In 1992, Alan Russell was racing in 400 and 600 classes, including trips to the Manx GP, where he picked up replicas in the Ultra Lightweight class. One thing that he felt was missing from the scene for himself and his fellow competitors was a decent support service at the circuits for fitting tyres and supplying the many items that get broken, wear out or generally just give up the ghost in the course of a race meeting.
Taking this opportunity, Alan bought a van and some equipment, then started to offer tyre fitting services in the paddock to his fellow racers. From that humble begninning, A&R Racing Services has gone from strength to strength, becoming a regular fixture in the paddock at Bemsee, North Gloucester and Thundersport UK race meetings. In the intervening years, Alan reckons that he has supplied and fitted tens of thousands of tyres for racers.
Along the way, he has created a friendly, knowledgeable team to operate a slick parts mail order operation and attend more than one race meeting over a weekend.
